This time last month, “scrambled” is the word that best describes my state of mind. I was incredibly busy doing, but getting no results. When I remembered, or when the fear that I wasn’t doing enough propelled me, I would hurriedly post a picture of PHASES with a promotional caption on all my social media media platforms. Trying to figure out “advertising” for the book, along with writing the sequel, and struggling to discern which deserved greater attention, meant that I was making no headway with either. Still, I ploughed on; a paragraph here, a caption there… I chose action because I dreaded what I thought was the alternative–apathy; as long as I was active, it would all come together, right?
Thankfully, on July 1st, my amazing pastor stepped in before I burned myself out and gave me (well, the church, via a Periscope broadcast) an instruction for the month: rest. What a revelation! Two things he said stood out to me:
- Hebrews 4:10 – “for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His.”
- “Evaluation is the oil that lubricates the engine.” You need to be in a state of rest to evaluate.
Have a watch of my testimony to see how resting worked for me.
Happy New Month to you all!
XO, Kunmi Daniel
